If you are having issues with tracking a ride completely or find that your Android device prohibits Motobit from being active in the background, you may need to change the “Battery Optimisation” app settings.

To save energy, the “Battery Optimisation” setting restricts background network functionality on some phones, so no location or other data is transmitted. To ensure the full and proper use of Motobit on your device, we recommend checking that “Battery Optimisation” is turned off.

Unfortunately, many vendors are not following Google's guidelines, which may require you to take action if you are facing issues.

It is helpful to know your smartphone's manufacturer and model as well as, which Android version is currently installed on your device.

The list below shows you, how to turn off "Battery optimisation" in case you are using a device from a vendor, that is typically affected.

Click below for more information about how to turn off battery optimisation on your device.

Apply the following changes:

System Settings > Apps > Gear Icon > Special Access > Battery Optimisation switch to ‘All apps’ in top right menu > Motobit > Don’t optimise

Settings > Battery > Battery Optimsation, switch to ‘All apps’ in top right menu > Motobit > Don’t optimise

OR (Android 12)

Settings > Battery > Advanced Settings  > Optimize battery use choose Motobit > Don’t optimise

Note: Recently OnePlus started reverting this setting randomly for random apps. So if you set it to be not optimised, the next day it may be back to optimised.
To avoid the system automatically revert the not optimised setting, you must also lock the app into the ‘Recent App’ list.

For most Samsung devices we strongly suggest turning off Adaptive battery and Put apps to sleep options.

These settings can be found inside sections that are named differently:

Android 6 or below: Smart manager
Android 7 or 8: Device maintenance
Android 9+: Device care

Galaxy S8

Settings > Device maintenance > Battery > Tap the Save power button > Apps that are sleeping will appear in the Sleeping apps list at the bottom > Scroll further, at the very bottom you’ll find Unmonitored apps > Tap the three-dot menu to exclude Motobit from the list or turn off the App power monitor feature completely

For all other Samsung devices:

Phone settings > Applications > select three-dot menu (top right corner) > Special Access > Optimise Battery usage > Find Motobit on the list and make sure that it is not selected

Android 12

System Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > Choose Battery safer > Choose No restrictions

Enter the App info of the Motobit app and ensure that the following 3 settings are met:

  1. Enable Auto-Start
  2. Allow all permissions under Other permissions
  3. Select No restrictions under Battery saver

Enter the App info of the Motobit app > Battery safer > Select No restrictions

Enter the App info of the Motobit app and ensure that both settings are met:

  1. Enable Auto-Start
  2. Allow all permissions under Other permissions

Power management

Please enable:

  1. Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery manager > Power plan is set to Performance
  2. Device Settings > Advanced Settings > Battery Manager > Protected apps – Motobit needs to be Protected
  3. Device Settings > Apps > Motobit > Battery > Power-intensive prompt and Keep running after screen off
  4. Settings > Additional Settings > Battery & Performance > Manage apps’ battery usage and here:
    1. Switch Power Saving Modes to Off
    2. Choose the next options: Saving Power in The Background > Choose apps > select Motobit > Background Settings > No restrictions

App battery saver

Security > Battery > App Battery Saver > Motobit > No restriction

Open Security app > Permissions > Auto-start – enable Autostart for Motobit

To make sure background processing for Motobit works, change the following settings in PowerMaster inside Mobile Manager (Settings > Advanced > Mobile Manager) panel:

  1. Mobile Manager > PowerMaster > Settings (or Battery-saving options) > Clean up in suspend (uncheck)
  2. Mobile Manager > PowerMaster > Settings (or Battery-saving options) > Auto-deny apps from auto starting (uncheck)

Please make sure to apply the following:

  1. Go to Phone settings > Apps > See all apps
  2. Tap on the right top corner menu > Show system
  3. Find Power saver app in the list, select it and Force close. It will remain stopped for a while but will restart itself eventually.

From now on, background apps should work normally using the standard Android battery optimisations.

The main reason why apps get suspended while not actively using them has to do with Stamina mode.

Do the following to change Motobit to disable battery optimisation:

Phone settings > Battery > Three dots in the top right corner > Battery optimisation > Apps > Motobit
